Long-term outcomes of isolated superficial vein thrombosis in patients with active cancer
Thrombosis Research Apr 26, 2018
Galanaud JP, et al. - This analysis evaluated the impact of isolated superficial venous thrombosis (SVT) [ie without deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE)] on the prognosis of cancer patients using data from the OPTIMEV, multicentre, observational study. It was inferred that cancer patients with SVT presented with a poor prognosis. It appeared to be similar to that of patients with cancer-related DVT. Data illustrated that the high rate of DVT-PE recurrence indicated that such patients possibly required a longer duration of anticoagulant treatment.
