Long-term outcomes of eccentric rotational acetabular osteotomy combined with femoral osteotomy for hip dysplasia
Journal of Arthroplasty Aug 09, 2019
Osawa Y, et al. - Through a case-control study of 39 individuals (40 hips) who underwent eccentric rotational acetabular osteotomy (ERAO) combined with an intertrochanteric valgus osteotomy (ITVO) for hip dysplasia, researchers examined the clinical outcomes of ERAO combined with ITVO over a period of more than 10 years. In the ITVO group vs the ERAO group, the HHS was significantly lesser at the final follow-up. In the ITVO group, the postoperative center edge angle, acetabular head index, and minimum joint space were significantly smaller than that of the ERAO group. For the conversion to THA endpoint, the survival rates were not significantly distinctive among groups. Nevertheless, in the ITVO group vs the ERAO group, survival rates for the HHS < 80 endpoints were significantly poorer. Therefore, the long-term outcomes of ERAO combined with ITVO were not adequate from a hip function perspective. Moreover, in only young active patients with prior and primary stages of osteoarthritis, ERAO combined with ITVO should be symbolized.
