Long-term morbidity and mortality following implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation with procedural complication: A report from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry
Heart Rhythm Oct 10, 2017
Kipp R, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the risk of mortality and hospitalization following complication during implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD) implantation. They also searched predictors of adverse prognosis. Findings reported an association of complications that occurred within 90 days of ICD implantation with increased risk of all-cause mortality and all-cause mortality or hospitalization at one and three years among Medicare beneficiaries. Also, it was reported that irrespective of the occurrence or non-occurrence of acute procedural complication, patient, procedure, and hospital characteristics associated with mortality at three years following implantation were similar.
