Long-term follow-up of lamellar macular holes and pseudoholes over at least 5 years
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Apr 12, 2018
Purtskhvanidze K, et al. - Researchers evaluated the morphological and functional changes of lamellar macular holes and pseudoholes with or without vitrectomy and membrane peeling with at least 5 years follow-up. Findings suggested that over a very long time, lamellar macular hole (LH), macular pseudohole (PH), and cleavedPH were often stable. Compared to PH and cleavedPH, LH tended to worse visual function. In the long-term, a spontaneous separation of epiretinal membranes was not uncommon. In cases with significant visual loss or functional and morphological progression, vitreoretinal intervention ought to be considered.
