Long-term follow-up of efficacy and safety of YAG vitreolysis for symptomatic weiss ring floaters
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Mar 05, 2020
Shah CP, et al. - Researchers conducted this observational extension study to report long-term outcomes and complications after YAG vitreolysis. Thirty-five of 52 individuals returned at an average of 2.3 years (range: 1.1 to 3.0) after their last YAG vitreolysis treatment to evaluate long-term effectiveness and safety. At 2.3 years, the effectiveness of YAG vitreolysis found at 6 months was sustained, with half showing significant or complete resolution of their floater symptoms. At 6 months, three patients developed delayed retinal tears that did not become apparent. To determine the true risks of YAG vitreolysis, a large, long-term randomized controlled trial is required.
