Injury Sep 07, 2017
Ryken KO, et al. – In order to evaluate the effect of landmine injuries on physical, mental, and social well–being, the authors conducted a survey of civilian landmine victims in Bosnia–Herzegovina. As per the outcomes, the majority of civilian landmine survivors reported adverse health effects because of their injuries, including anxiety, depression, multiple surgeries, and hospitalizations. Also, the majority experienced loss of independence, either requiring care of family members for activities of daily living, disability, and inability to be employed. To determine effective interventions for landmine survivors worldwide, further research was needed.
