Long‐term outcomes of patients undergoing coronary sinus reducer implantation: A multicenter study
Clinical Cardiology Mar 19, 2021
Konigstein M, Ponticelli F, Zivelonghi C, et al. - Since there is lack of data concerning over time clinical benefit of coronary sinus narrowing by reducer implantation as a treatment option for refractory angina, so researchers analyzed herein 99 consecutive patients (77% men, mean age 69.8 ± 9.4) with severe angina who were undergoing successful reducer implantation and were observed for more than 2 years. There occurred no procedure‐related complications. A median follow up of 3.38 years revealed deaths of 15.1% of the patients, and myocardial infarction occurrence in 9%, and percutaneous coronary intervention receipt by 21%. Findings demonstrated similar long‐term mortality between patients receiving reducer implantation and those with stable coronary artery disease. Over time, earlier noted short‐term efficacy of the reducer, evident by significant improvement of angina symptoms, was maintained.
