Left bundle branch pacing for cardiac resynchronization therapy: Nonrandomized on-treatment comparison with His bundle pacing and biventricular pacing
Canadian Journal of Cardiology Aug 29, 2020
Wu S, Su L, Vijayaraman P, et al. - Given that left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) represents a new method for delivering cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), researchers undertook this nonrandomized observational study to compare on-treatment results with His bundle pacing (HBP) and biventricular pacing (BVP). BVP, HBP, or LBBP was received by consecutive patients with left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤ 40% and typical left bundle branch block referred for CRT. Evaluation of QRS duration, pacing threshold, LVEF, and New York Heart Association class was done. Based on the findings, LBBP seemed to be a promising approach for delivering CRT. With LBBP and HBP, similar improvements in symptoms and LV function were achieved. These improvements were significantly greater when compared with those observed in patients managed with BVP.
