“Lambda-wave” ST-elevation is associated with severe prognosis in stress (takotsubo) cardiomyopathy
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jul 14, 2018
Tarantino N, et al. - Researchers investigated if persistent downsloping ST-elevation in the early stages of takotsubo (stress) cardiomyopathy (TTC) be associated with short and long-term clinical events. They prospectively enrolled 158 consecutive patients with TTC and, using electrocardiogram, they evaluated these patients. Two groups of patients were formed based on the presence of downsloping ST-elevation ≥ 5 mm lasting at least 24 hours (“lambda-wave” ST-elevation group vs without downsloping ST-elevation) in at least one/two contiguous leads. Findings suggested a possible association between persistent downsloping lambda-wave ST-elevation during the acute phase of stress cardiomyopathy and a higher risk of adverse events at short and long-term follow-up.
