Knee problems are common in young adults and associated with physical activity and not obesity: The findings of a cross-sectional survey in a university cohort
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Mar 22, 2019
Ibeachu C, et al. - Investigators assessed the data to quantify the prevalence of knee problems in young adults and also to explore its association with physical activity, physical inactivity, and obesity. They observed a higher prevalence (31.8%) of knee problems among the 314 persons. They recorded knee pain as the most frequent and dominant symptom reported in 65% of cases. They noted high physical activity levels and mental distress as independent risk factors for knee disorders. Hence, they encouraged people to become more active because of increasing obesity prevalence.
