Jumbo biopsy forceps vs cold snares for removing diminutive colorectal polyps: A prospective randomized controlled trial
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Jan 29, 2019
Huh CW, et al. - In this prospective randomized controlled trial, researchers compared the effectiveness and safety of jumbo forceps polypectomy (JFP) to cold snare polypectomy (CSP) for the removal of diminutive colorectal polyps (DCPs). A total of 1003 patients were screened and 169 patients were enrolled with 196 DCPs. Data reported that the overall complete resection rate was 92.1%. The complete resection rate did not differ significantly between JFP and CSP groups. Between the two groups, polypectomy procedure time, tissue retrieval rate, and rate of postpolypectomy adverse events were not significantly different. Investigators found that JFP and CSP achieved complete resection rates of >90 % for DCPs. JFP can, therefore, be considered for polypectomy of DCPs.
