J-curve relationship between admission SBP and 2-year cardiovascular mortality in older patients admitted for acute coronary syndrome
Journal of Hypertension Apr 21, 2021
Jiang C, Wu S, Wang M, et al. - Researchers undertook this retrospective observational analysis to determine the link between admission SBP and subsequent cardiovascular as well as all-cause mortality among older patients hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome (ACS). They obtained data from the CBD Bank (Cardiovascular Center Beijing Friendship Hospital Database Bank). This cohort analysis involved 6,785 patients. Experts found a nonlinear association between SBP at admission and cardiovascular and all-cause mortality during hospitalization as well as over the observation span employing restricted cubic splines. Findings revealed the presence of a J-curve link between supine admission SBP and risk for 2-year cardiovascular mortality, with a nadir at 120–129 mmHg, in patients aged at least 65 years admitted for ACS.
