Is combined cataract surgery associated with acute postoperative endophthalmitis? A nationwide study from 2005 to 2014
British Journal of Ophthalmology Jun 23, 2018
Creuzot-Garcher CP, et al. - Authors evaluated the incidence of acute postoperative endophthalmitis (POE) following cataract surgery combined with corneal, glaucoma or vitreoretinal surgical procedures from 2005 to 2014 in France. Based on the French nationwide medical-administrative database, experts noted a higher incidence of acute POE following combined cataract surgery compared with cataract surgery done as a stand-alone procedure. Findings suggested an association of the incidence of acute POE after combined surgery with the type of surgery performed simultaneously with cataract extraction.
