Intramedullary nailing of displaced four-part fractures of the proximal humerus
Injury Aug 03, 2019
Kloub M, et al. - The functional outcome after treatment of four-part fractures of proximal humerus with Multiloc proximal humeral nail were evaluated in this prospective monocentric cohort study of 35 patients. In this study, the largest published cohort of the patients with displaced four-part fracture treated by intramedullary nail was analyzed. Healing was reported in 29 of 35 fractures following mean follow up period of 25.8 months. As per outcomes, four-part fractures of proximal humerus could be safely treated with intramedullary nailing. Intramedullary nailing of displaced four-part fractures resulted in clinical outcome comparable to osteosynthesis with locking plates. For good functional result, researchers emphasize the appropriate reduction of fracture fragments.
