Intracranial Hemorrhage With Low-Dose Aspirin in People Without Symptomatic Cardiovascular Disease
JAMA Neurology May 16, 2019
Huang WY, et al. – Researchers assessed if, in the general population, the risk of intracranial hemorrhage increases with the use of preventive, low-dose aspirin. For this systematic review and meta-analysis, they identified 13 randomized clinical trials analyzing low-dose aspirin use for primary prevention that included 134,446 patients. A higher risk of any intracranial bleeding was linked with low-dose aspirin use in people without symptomatic cardiovascular disease. Those of Asian race/ethnicity or people with a low body mass index may have a heightened risk of intracerebral hemorrhage.
