Interactions between TLR4 methylation and alcohol consumption on subjective responses to an alcohol infusion

Alcohol and Alcoholism Jul 08, 2018

Karoly HC, et al. - Researchers examined the relationship between Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4) methylation and subjective alcohol responses in order to assess the role of TLR4 in promoting alcohol use disorders (AUDs). As per findings, self-reported alcohol use seemed to influence the relationship between TLR4 methylation and subjective and physiological arousal during acute alcohol intoxication. TLR4 was thus supported having an influence on subjective responses to alcohol, supporting the need for further research on its potential as a pharmacological treatment target.
