Increased platelet alpha2B–adrenergic receptor gene expression in well-controlled hypertensives: The effect of arterial stiffness

Journal of the American Society of Hypertension Aug 30, 2017

Marketou ME, et al. – Platelet alpha2B–adrenergic receptors (α2B–ARs) gene expression levels were assessed in patients with well–controlled essential hypertension versus normal individuals and their relation to increased arterial stiffness was also probed. Findings were suggestive of a link between arterial stiffness and platelet α2B–Rs gene expression. Platelet α2B–R gene expression levels were increased in patients with well–controlled essential hypertension versus normotensives and were correlated with increased pulse wave velocity (PWV) in those patients.
