Increased choroidal blood flow and choroidal thickness in patients with hypertensive chorioretinopathy
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Nov 22, 2019
Saito M, et al. - In patients with hypertensive chorioretinopathy treated with antihypertensive agents, researchers studied the alterations of the central choroidal thickness and macular choroidal blood flow. Nine patients (10 eyes) with hypertensive chorioretinopathy were recruited (43.1 ± 19.6 years of age) in retrospective observational case series. Serous retinal detachment vanished in all the eyes with the hypertension drug, and the mean blood pressure lowered. In the acute phase of hypertensive chorioretinopathy, choroidal blood flow velocity and thickness concurrently increased, indicating the role of choroidal hyperperfusion in hypertensive chorioretinopathy pathogenesis.
