Incidence of gonorrhea and chlamydia following human immunodeficiency virus preexposure prophylaxis among men who have sex with men: A modeling study
Clinical Infectious Diseases Aug 30, 2017
Jenness SM, et al. – This study sought to assess the incidence of gonorrhea and chlamydia following human immunodeficiency virus preexposure prophylaxis among men who have sex with men (MSM). Observations suggested that a significant decline in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) incidence among MSM could be achieved with the implementation of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) guidelines while scaling up PrEP coverage. Study thereby underscored the design of PrEP not only as antiretroviral medication but as combination HIV/STI prevention incorporating STI screening.
