Heart Oct 22, 2020
Mohammad MA, Koul S, Olivecrona GK, et al. - Researchers investigated myocardial infarction (MI) incidence during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. They used the nationwide Swedish Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty Registry for this purpose. They evaluated the incidence rate and the incidence rate ratios of all MI referred for coronary angiography in Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic (1 March 2020–7 May 2020) vs the same days 2015–2019. Findings revealed that the incidence of MI referred for invasive treatment strategy has decreased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Experts found no differences in overall short-term case fatality or quality of care indicators.
