Incidence and clinical impact of recurrent Takotsubo syndrome: Results from the GEIST registry
Journal of the American Heart Association May 09, 2019
El-Battrawy I, et al. - Researchers focused on clinical features, predictors, and the prognostic influence of patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) and recurrences in a multicenter TTS registry [the international GEIST (German Italian Stress Cardiomyopathy) Registry], by analyzing 749 patients with TTS from 9 European centers. Recurrence group and the nonrecurrence group were created. At a median follow-up of 830 days, the estimated incidence of TTS recurrence was 4%. Commonly, up to 20% of recurrence cases demonstrated a variable TTS pattern at recurrence. The recurrence group had a higher presence of pulmonary edema and a higher presence of arterial hypertension.
