Aibana O, et al. – The impact of baseline levels of vitamin A and carotenoids on tuberculosis disease risk had been computed. Among household contacts (HHCs) of patients with tuberculosis, vitamin A deficiency strongly predicted the risk of incident tuberculosis disease, and among those who were at high risk of tuberculosis, supplementation of this vitamin appeared to provide an effective means of preventing tuberculosis disease.
