Impact of systolic blood pressure on heart failure symptoms with moderate aortic stenosis
The American Journal of Cardiology Jul 28, 2021
Maeda M, Omori T, Kagawa S, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the impact of systolic blood pressure (BP) on heart failure (HF) symptoms in patients with moderate aortic stenosis (AS). Researchers retrospectively examined 317 patients with moderate AS (mean transaortic pressure gradient 20 to 39 mm Hg) and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (left ventricular ejection fraction ≥50%). Individuals were categorized according to the presence or absence of HF symptoms. The findings indicate that in patients with moderate AS, systolic BP, as well as left atrial volume index were independent correlates of HF symptoms.
