Impact of post-procedural glycemic variability on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: A post hoc cohort analysis
Cardiovascular Diabetology Mar 14, 2019
Besch G, et al. - In this post hoc analysis that include d160 patients, researchers assessed the prognostic value of post-procedural glycemic variability within 30 days post-transcatheter aortic valve implantation. During the first 2 days post-procedure, mean daily δ blood glucose was estimated. The main outcomes of interest were death, stroke, myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias within 30 days. Overall 41 (26%) patients had diabetes mellitus. Patients were aged a median of 84 years. An increased risk of major complications within 30 days after the procedure was reported in relation to post-procedural glycemic variability.
