Impact of P‐wave indices in prediction of atrial fibrillation—Insight from loop recorder analysis
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology May 12, 2021
Kreimer F, Aweimer A, Pflaumbaum A, et al. - Researchers investigated as well as assessed ECG parameters for predicting atrial fibrillation (AF) by analyzing patients with loop recorders. Participants were 366 in total (mean age 62 ± 16 years, mean LVEF 61 ± 6%, 175 women) who were without AF and had received loop recorder implantation between 2010–2020. Age ≥ 68 years, P‐wave amplitude in II <0.1 mV, P‐wave terminal force in V 1 ≤ −4000 µV × ms, and advanced interatrial block, all were discovered as independent predictors of AF. Findings demonstrate the suitability of P‐wave indices for AF prediction. Stratification of patients into risk groups for AF was enabled by simple ECG parameters, which is especially essential for cryptogenic stroke cases.
