Impact of obesity on in-hospital survival in acute heart failure hospitalizations: Observations from nationwide inpatient sample 2003–2011

Journal of Cardiac Failure Aug 25, 2017

Agarwal M, et al. – This retrospective observational analysis of a large nationwide inpatient database examined the impact of obesity on survival in heart failure (HF) patients, including patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), HF with preserved ejection (HFpEF) and hypertensive emergency-HF(HTN-HF). Findings, consistent with previous reports, demonstrated higher survival in obese pts in HFrEF subgroup. Additionally, this paradoxical influence was also apparent in HFpEF and HTN–HF pts.
