Immediate multivessel intervention vs culprit-vessel intervention only in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and multivessel coronary disease: Data from the prospective KAMIR-NIH registry
Coronary Artery Disease Feb 07, 2019
Ahn SG, et al. - Using data from the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction-National Institutes of Health registry (2011–2015), researchers assessed immediate multivessel coronary intervention (MVI) (n=260) vs culprit-vessel intervention only (CVI-O) (n=931) for 1-year major adverse cardiac event rates for cardiac death, recurrent myocardial infarction, and repeat revascularization in 1,191 ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with multivessel disease (MVD). Performing immediate MVI vs CVI-O led to no improved 1-year net clinical outcomes in stable STEMI patients with MVD. Reduced repeat revascularization was the only benefit observed with immediate MVI.
