Hospital characteristics related to the hospital length of stay among inpatients receiving invasive cervical discectomy due to road traffic accidents under automobile insurance in South Korea
BMC Health Services Research Sep 07, 2017
Shin KW, et al. – The factors correlated with the hospital length of stay (LOS), which was used as an indicator of healthcare utilization, for inpatients covered by automobile insurance and undergoing invasive cervical discectomy were examined. The authors proposed that inpatients covered by automobile insurance were correlated with a longer LOS when treated at small–sized, low–provider, and low–volume hospitals with high proportions of such patients. As per this study, in small–sized hospitals, policymakers and healthcare professionals needed to consider improved strategies for efficient management of automobile insurance for inpatients.
