High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T, left-ventricular function and outcome in non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome
American Heart Journal Dec 07, 2017
Eggers KM, et al. - This study was carried out to investigate if cardiac troponin (cTn) measured with a high-sensitivity (hs) assay would provide incremental prognostic information to the left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) patients. In this patient population, the incremental prognostic value of Hs-cTnT levels was observed, independent of the LVEF. In patients with severely depressed LVEF and in those with a normal LVEF, Hs-cTnT was particularly found to be predictive for major cardiovascular events. Accordingly, a normal LVEF should not be used as an argument not to target patients to thorough work-up.
