High rates of repeat chlamydial infections among young women—Louisiana, 2000–2015

Cha S, et al. - Researchers analyzed surveillance data on chlamydial infections reported among women in Louisiana from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2015, to investigate the risk of reported repeat chlamydial infection among young women and time interval between infections by age and race/ethnicity. Observations revealed a common occurrence of repeat chlamydial infections, especially among young black women. As the surveillance data only count infections that were detected and reported, the true number is likely higher.
