Heterogeneity of treatment effects from an intensive lifestyle weight loss intervention on cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes: Data from the Look AHEAD trial
Diabetes Care Aug 22, 2019
de Vries TI, et al. - In this post hoc analysis of the Look AHEAD trial, researchers sought to investigate the presence of heterogeneity of treatment effect of an intensive lifestyle intervention on the occurrence of major cardiovascular events in obese or overweight patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as to identify patient features correlated with individual therapy impact. The study sample consisted of 4,901 participants. Several patient features in demographics, medical history, physical examination, and laboratory values were linked to the level of treatment impact. This investigation showed that a weight loss-oriented intensive lifestyle intervention may decrease cardiovascular events in chosen patients but may have a detrimental impact on other patients.
