Hemoglobin level and three-month clinical outcomes among ischemic stroke patients with elevated systolic blood pressure
Journal of the Neurological Sciences Dec 01, 2018
Guo D, et al. - In a large prospective cohort of ischemic stroke patients with elevated systolic blood pressure, researchers examined the association between hemoglobin level and three-month clinical outcomes. In 3,881 patients with acute ischemic stroke, baseline hemoglobin levels were measured. They defined the primary outcome as composite outcome of major disability and death (modified Rankin Scale score ≥ 3) at 3 months after stroke onset. Separately those of major disability and death were secondary outcomes. Findings suggested an association of elevated hemoglobin levels in the acute phase with poor prognosis at 3 months after ischemic stroke.
