Health-related values and preferences regarding meat consumption: A mixed-methods systematic review
Annals of Internal Medicine Oct 07, 2019
Valli C, Rabassa M, Johnston BC, et al. - MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences Abstracts, International System for Agricultural Science and Technology, and Food Science and Technology Abstracts were explored from beginning to July 2018 without language restrictions in order to recognize and assess evidence discussing health-related values and preferences regarding meat intake. The search generated 19,172 articles, of which 456 were considered potentially qualified based on the title and abstract. Following the full-text appraisal, 41 quantitative (33–73) and 13 qualitative studies (74–86) studies were involved. Low-certainty evidence implied that omnivores were attached to meat and were reluctant to modify this behavior when faced with likely unwelcoming health impacts.
