Handgrip strength is positively related to blood pressure and hypertension risk: Results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
Lipids in Health and Disease Apr 26, 2018
Ji C, et al. - Authors intended to gauge the correlation between handgrip strength to blood pressure and the risk of hypertension using responses of 4,597 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were transformed to age- and sex-specific z-scores. A positive link was discovered between handgrip strength with higher DBP in men and women. Yielded results depicted that strong handgrip strength could be related to higher risk of hypertension in men, especially overweight and obese men.
