Group B Streptococcus in surgical site and non-invasive bacterial infections worldwide: A systematic review and meta-analysis
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Apr 30, 2019
Collin SM, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 74 studies and data sources including 67 countries to assess the part Group B streptococcal (GBS) plays in terms of surgical site and non-invasive infections at all ages. Worldwide, a small proportion (1-2%) of surgical site, skin and soft tissue, and urinary tract infections and a very small proportion (<0.5%) of respiratory tract infection were due to GBS, but a considerable proportion (up to 10%) of invasive surgical site infections following caesarean section were noted to be related to GBS.
