Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Sep 18, 2019
Safiri S, Kolahi AA, Hoy D, et al. - Data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2017 were utilized in order to give the level and trends of prevalence, incidence and disability-adjusted life years for RA in 195 countries from 1990 to 2017 by age, gender, Socio-demographic Index (a composite of sociodemographic factors) and Healthcare Access and Quality (an indicator of health system performance) Index. RA was a major global public health challenge. The age-standardized prevalence and incidence rates were rising, particularly in countries such as Canada, Paraguay, and Guatemala. Early identification and treatment of RA are vital particularly among females, in order to decrease the ongoing burden of this condition. The quality of health data requires to be improved for better monitoring of disease burden.
