Tsai TY, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine if ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) prevents acute mountain sickness (AMS) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. For this investigation, researchers searched the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Google Scholar and PubMed databases for articles published up to 20 May 2017. The study sample consisted of 451 participants. Results of this study suggested that there were not enough data to reveal the statistically significant impact of GBE on preventing AMS although GBE might tend towards AMS prophylaxis.
