Flattening of retinal pigment epithelial detachments after pneumatic displacement of submacular hemorrhages secondary to age-related macular degeneration

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Jul 04, 2018

Kimura M, et al. - Experts assessed the effect of pneumatic displacement using tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) to treat pigment epithelial detachments (PEDs) and visual outcomes in eyes with submacular hemorrhages (SMHs) secondary to neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). As per data, PEDs often accompany SMHs secondary to neovascular AMD. The PEDs, especially in eyes with PCV were unexpectedly flattened with pneumatic displacement of the SMHs using tPA and this displacement was related to fewer additional treatments.
