International Journal of Infectious Diseases May 20, 2020
Qi L, Yang Y, Jiang D, et al. - Via this retrospective cohort study of 147 patients with COVID-19 in Changsha, China, researchers explored factors linked with the duration of viral shedding in patients with COVID-19 outside of Wuhan. This study with relatively large sample size revealed viral shedding for a median duration of 17 days (interquartile range [IQR], 12 to 21) in patients with COVID-19 outside of Wuhan, China. Per multivariable logistic regression analysis, risk factors for prolonged duration of viral shedding comprised the highest temperature at admission and time from symptom onset to admission and hospital length of stay.
