Expression of cytokines in aqueous humor from fungal keratitis patients
BMC Ophthalmology Apr 23, 2018
Zhang Y, et al. - Experts collected the aqueous humor samples from fungal keratitis patients to evaluate cytokine patterns and cellular profile for the pathogenesis of fungal keratitis. Results demonstrated an association of high concentration of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IFN-γ in the aqueous humor with fungal keratitis. The predominant infiltrating cells in the aqueous humor of fungal keratitis were polymorphonuclear leukocytes. In all aqueous humor specimens, negative results were revealed by bacterial and fungal cultures.
