Evaluation of the small-aperture intracorneal inlay: Three-year results from the cohort of the US Food and Drug Administration clinical trial
Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery May 27, 2018
Vukich JA, et al. - Authors assessed the safety and effectiveness of the Kamra small-aperture intracorneal inlay. Intracorneal implantation of the inlay in the nondominant eye was seen in patients with emmetropic presbyopia. Findings suggested safety and effectiveness of the small-aperture corneal inlay, improving near vision both monocularly and binocularly with minimal effect on distance visual acuity. Over 3 years, 8.7% were removed from the full cohort. In the 6 × 6 pocket group, the removal rate was significantly less and further reduced with deeper implantation. Severe glare or halos were reported in less than 1.0% of the patients postoperatively.
