Evaluation of posterior vitreous detachment using ultrasonography and optical coherence tomography
Acta Ophthalmologica Feb 02, 2020
Moon SY, et al. - Via prospectively involving 124 eyes in 63 patients, researchers contrasted the diagnostic ability of ultrasonography (US) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) in assessing posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) status. Two examiners independently measured the posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) status using US and OCT (transverse scan with/without peripapillary scan). Findings suggested that PVD could be measured correctly by both the US and OCT. The US image interpretation was more subjective, which resulted in a lower inter-examiner agreement than the OCT agreement. The diagnostic ability of OCT was improved by adding peripapillary OCT scan images.
