Efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in arthroscopic repair for discoid lateral meniscus tears
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Mar 22, 2019
Dai WL, et al. - Authors researched over 29 individuals to estimate the consequences of arthroscopic repair with or without platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) tears. They observed statistically significant improvements in Lysholm score, Ikeuchi grade and Visual analog score (VAS) for pain at the last follow-up vs baseline in both PRP and non-PRP group. They also found an association of younger age and longer follow-up duration with greater functional improvement. They overall concluded comparable effects in pain relief and functional improvement in PRP group vs non-PRP group at mid-term follow-up in arthroscopic repair for DLM tears.
