Efficacy of collagen matrix implant on adhesions in restrictive strabismus: An experimental study in a rabbit model
Acta Ophthalmologica Sep 24, 2018
Yoo YJ, et al. - Authors ascertained the effectiveness of a biodegradable collagen matrix implant (Ologen, Aeon Astron Europe BV, Leiden, the Netherlands) in reducing adhesions in a rabbit model of restrictive strabismus. Mesh-related extraocular muscle adhesions in a rabbit model of restrictive strabismus are more effectively reduced with Ologen vs amniotic membrane. A significantly lower degree of acute inflammation, chronic inflammation, and rectus muscle fibrosis were demonstrated by the Ologen group vs controls. Compared with the amniotic membrane group, the degree of chronic inflammation was significantly decreased in the Ologen group.
