Efficacy of a cell-culture–derived quadrivalent influenza vaccine in children
New England Journal of Medicine Oct 20, 2021
Nolan T, Fortanier AC, Leav B, et al. - Healthy children and adolescents developed protection against influenza across seasons after receiving a cell-culture–derived quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4c), this was observed regardless of previous influenza vaccination.
An observer-blinded, randomized clinical trial evaluating IIV4c vs non influenza vaccine (meningococcal ACWY) among 4,514 children and adolescents 2 to less than 18 years of age.
Efficacies of 80.7%, 42.1%, and 47.6% were recorded against influenza A/H1N1, influenza A/H3N2 and influenza B, respectively.
The IIV4c group and the comparator group had similar incidences of adverse events.
