Effect on survival of concurrent hemoconcentration and increase in creatinine during treatment of acute decompensated heart failure
The American Journal of Cardiology Oct 14, 2019
Griffin M, Rao VS, Fleming J, et al. - Among 4,181 patients hospitalized with acute decompensated heart failure, whether patients that were aggressively treated could be better detected by the combination of hemoconcentration and worsening creatinine, and whether this was associated with improved postdischarge outcomes, was investigated. In-hospital parameters that were consistent with aggressive diuresis and improved postdischarge survival were found in correlation with this combination of hemoconcentration and worsening creatinine, which could be determined prospectively during patient care. No link with improved survival was demonstrated by worsening creatinine or hemoconcentration at any time, in isolation.
