Effect of vitamin D supplementation on blood pressure parameters in patients with vitamin D deficiency: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of the American Society of Hypertension May 16, 2018
Shu L, et al. - Whether vitamin D supplementation could affect blood pressure parameters in vitamin D deficient subjects, was determined via analyzing data from relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) searched from the PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Cochrane library databases. In order to assess the impacts, extracted data were pooled as weighted mean differences (WMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Based on the characteristics of included studies, subgroup analysis was further performed. The meta-analysis included seven RCTs with 560 participants. As a consequence of vitamin D supplementation in vitamin D deficient patients, a small but significant fall in peripheral blood pressure was seen with no significant impact observed in other blood pressure parameters.
