Effect of relocation on neuropsychiatric symptoms in elderly adults living in long-term care
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Oct 12, 2018
El Haddad K, et al. - In nursing home (NH) residents (n=116), authors assessed the evolution of behavioral and psychiatric symptoms of dementia (BPSD) following an environmental change through relocation to a more architecturally suitable facility, while conserving the same medical staff. They evaluated neuropsychiatric symptoms as part of a comprehensive geriatric assessment for each resident 1 week prior to the relocation and three times following relocation. They found that BPSD were significantly reduced in NH residents 1 month post-relocation.
