Effect of chronic domperidone use on QT interval: A large single center study
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Apr 11, 2019
Field J, et al. - Between January 2012 and September 2017, authors analyzed the impact and safety of domperidone on QTc interval at the usually prescribed doses of 30 to 80 mg daily. They noted that EKGs were available for all 246 subjects prior to treatment, 170 cases at 2 to 6 months, 135 at 6 to 12 months, and 152 subjects at least 1 year following initiation of domperidone. At the conventionally used doses to treat gastroparesis (30 to 80 mg/d) an association between domperidone with prolongation of QTc in only 6% of patients was noted; no QT interval reached a point though to be clinically significant.
