Effect of albumin-globulin score and albumin to globulin ratio on survival in patients with heart failure: A retrospective cohort study in China
BMJ Open Jul 13, 2018
Li K, et al. - Researchers, for the first time, examined the prognostic value of albumin-globulin score and albumin to globulin ratio in patients with heart failure (HF). The combined effect of albumin (ALB) and globulin (GLB) on the overall survival (OS) of patients with HF was examined in this retrospective cohort study. Participants in the study were 404 patients first diagnosed with HF. The study findings suggested that serum levels of ALB and GLB were objective and easily measurable biomarkers which could be used in combination to predict the survival of patients with HF, since higher albumin to globulin ratio significantly correlated with better OS.
